Charley’s Story…

Charley Batt, massage therapist in Bourg Saint Maurice

Hello, I’m Charley! I’m a full-time, Integrative Massage Therapist, based in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Les Arcs.

My path into manual therapies and massage began at the age of fourteen, when I received a book on massage one Christmas. I became fascinated by the techniques and the idea of helping others to regain wellness and mobility through therapeutic touch.

This path took a detour after completing my degree at University, when I decided to take a break from studying and went on my first winter season to Canada, in 2005.

One winter season turned into several until I eventually found my home in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, France. After meeting my life partner and having a family, it was the experience of post-natal depression that bought me back to my dreams of becoming a manual therapist.

Four years after the birth of my son, I received a treatment of Kiom Therapy, that changed my life. Given by the very gifted Aglaia Hernandez, founder of Kiom Therapy, I was able to start my healing process and begin a new path back to wellness.

Inspired by this life experience, I turned back to my dreams and began studies in CranioSacral Therapy, with the Upledger School of CranioSacral therapy in Switzerland. In 2022 I was able to complete my training in Kiom Therapy, the technique that helped to change my life.

It’s this experience and knowledge that I bring to each session so that I may now help others on their own path to wellness.

“I believe that the body is a self-healing organism that is constantly looking for optimum health. When we suffer physical and/or emotional traumas in our lifetimes, the body can store this memory, which can in-turn effect our optimal functioning. My role as a therapist is to work with clients to facilitate the release of such physical and/or emotional traumas through careful listening and the targeted application of specific techniques.”
